KUSH GROOVE ENLISTS DESIGN CONTESTANTS TO REDESIGN ICONIC GRAFFITI & TURTLE LOGO
The Boston Based Streetwear-Cannabis Brand Changes Look After 10 Years
CAMBRIDGE, January 18, 2022 –Kush Groove, a local black-owned marijuana lifestyle brand and retailer announced last week that it is changing it’s iconic graffiti and turtle logo, after 10 years. The brand redesign is being undertaken through a Logo Redesign Contest put on by the urban retailer. The logo redesign is in part prompted by the company’s pivot from clothing and smoke shop retailer, to licensed cannabis retailer, looking to open three prime retail cannabis locations in Boston, Cambridge and Brockton, Massachusetts during Q1 and Q2 of 2022.
“Kush Groove is a 10 year old brand (and in turtle years) it means we’re really old and we’re growing grays on the outside of our shell” says co-founder and marketing officer Marcus Johnson-Smith. The company celebrated it’s 10 year anniversary in October, with the release of their 10 minute documentary, Slow & Steady: The Documentary, at the same time, releasing a line of Slow and Steady Edibles, that feature unique flavors not currently represented in the cannabis marketplace, including fruit flavors include: Lulo, Soursop, Papaya and Passion Fruit.
The company is reaching out to its broad community of artists, creatives, designers, illustrators and graphic specialists to submit entries for its logo design competition. THe competition ends January 31st, 2022.
Of the designs Kush Groove is looking for, Johnson-Smith adds, “we’re looking for the big sister version of Kush Groove. The older version is the little brother that got into college with OK grades and a relatable swag. The new Kush Groove needs to reflect a more worldly charm, something grown but young and fun at heart. She’s the big sister that has fun on the weekend, but has all her shit together throughout the week.”To submit an entry, the design should be in jpg., png., or pdf. format and can be sent to email@example.com. Entries are due by January 31st, 2022. A winner will be announced in February and shall receive $300 cash and merchandise from Kush Groove Clothing. Design students are highly encouraged to apply.
